COURSE DESCRIPTION

This professional certificate course provides a comprehensive, interactive, and solutions-oriented approach to understanding and applying employment law and practices in the Bahamas. The course is specifically designed to integrate innovative classroom teaching of relevant legal principles and employment best practices with in-depth analysis, debate, and discussion of topical employment case studies within the modern Bahamian work environment.

 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

 

  1. Demonstrate practical legal knowledge and understanding of the principles of Employment Law and employment best practices;

  2. Apply that knowledge and understanding to current Employment Law issues in a competent and comprehensive manner;

  3. Critically assess, analyze, and address the legal issues involved in employer –employee-related matters;

  4. Effectively and proactively communicate their conclusions and make recommendations to their employers, employees, and colleagues for the resolution of simple and complex Employment Law issues, by using the knowledge and understanding gained through the course teaching, course content, and classroom discussions.

  5. Integrate the knowledge obtained through practical, results-oriented problem-solving in the resolution of employment issues.

The National Accreditation and Equivalency Council (NAECOB) is a statutory body established under the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council ACT of The Bahamas on the 4th of October, 2006; assented on 29th of December, 2006 and came into force 28th February, 2007.  NAECOB is responsible for registering and accrediting primary schools, secondary schools, post-secondary schools, and any institution that offers training in The Bahamas. The National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas began operation in 2016.
